Scalp Cooler and Cold Caps for the Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre
The Paxman Scalp Cooler and cold caps were donated to The Lister Macmillan Cancer Centre as a result of our Cold Caps for Cancer Patients Campaign. They will be used by patients having chemotherapy. The scalp coolers will help give patients the chance to try and stop hair loss when they are having their cancer treatment.
4 Nebulisers for Cystic Fibrosis patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital
CF affects many internal organs, but in particular the lungs and digestive system by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus.
The eFlow rapid nebuliser system is an innovative device for the treatment of respiratory diseases. Medications can be transported deep into the lungs quickly and efficiently saving patients time - 50% quicker than other nebulisers.
15 Exercise Bikes for Royal Papworth Hospital
The Royal Papworth Hospital has a Cystic Fibrosis ward dedicated to patients suffering with Cystic Fibrosis. Patients are often hospitalised for a number of weeks or longer, stuck in their room 24 hours a day due to risks of cross infection between patients.
Exercise is so important for patients with Cystic Fibrosis because it can help clear mucus from the lungs as well as improve physical strength and overall health.
During a hospital stay, exercise can further improve the results of treatment by providing another way of clearing mucus from the lungs and help to manage the mental health of patients who may have been stuck in bed for days on end.
The Royal Papworth hospital required bikes to allow patients who stay on the ward to have one in their room, providing patients the ability to exercise as often as they are able to.
